Jenin Siege during "Operation Summer Camp"

West Bank, Jenin 28 Aug, 2024 - 06 Sep, 2024
At least 19 martyred
### Jenin Siege during "Operation Summer Camp": - Launched on Aug. 28, 2024, by Israel, it is the largest military invasion in the northern West Bank in over two decades. - The Israeli troops withdrawed after 10 days (On September 6) of occupation and siege conducting to the destruction of the main infrastructuee of the Camp. - The operation focuses on Jenin, with simultaneous actions in other cities like Tubas, Nablus, Ramallah, and Tulkarem. - Israel justifies the operation as a fight against Palestinian resistance groups like the Jenin Brigades. - On September 9, it was reported that the Palestinian Authority (PA) agreed to a new security deal with Israel that would see its National Security Forces working alongside the IDF in the West Bank to counter militancy when the Israeli operation concludes. ## Civilian Infrastructure Destroyed: Israeli forces heavily damaged civilian infrastructure in Jenin refugee camp, described as a form of collective punishment.Bulldozers and armored vehicles destroyed homes, streets, and markets. 70% of camp streets and surrounding areas were bulldozed. The refugee camp has been turned into a battlefield, forcing residents to stay indoors. - The operation led to the internal displacement of over 1,000 Palestinian families. Most of these displaced have since returned, however at least 74 households, comprising 297 people, including 102 children, remain displaced from 45 houses, which are now uninhabitable. As of 8 September, at least 1,900 housing units had been damaged. - Approximately 25 kilometres (70 per cent) of the city’s roads and the underlying water and sewage networks were bulldozed, severely impacting the safety of movement and access to essential services of water, sanitation, healthcare, education, and markets. As a result, since 28 August, water has been cut to approximately 35,000 residents of the camp and its surrounding neighbourhoods, who have also experienced sewage overflows. ## Siege on Jenin: The siege blocked access to essential resources like water, food, and medicine. Civilians, including children, the elderly, and the chronically ill, have been trapped inside without help. Some women and children managed to escape at gunpoint, while men and boys were detained. ## Mass Arrests and Human Rights Violations: - Israeli forces carried out mass arrests of men and boys, including 72-year-old Khayriyeh Khrayneh’s family members. Her husband (a diabetic) and eldest son (a cancer patient) were arrested despite needing medical care. - Eyewitnesses described brutal tactics: Palestinian detainees were used as human shields, and attack dogs were unleashed on families. - Journalists and media correspondants are systematically threatened by Israeli vehicles or reckless shooting. ## Blocking Medical Access: - Access to hospitals and medical facilities was severely restricted. In Jenin, Israeli forces surrounded both Jenin Governmental Hospital and Ibn Sina Hospital, blocking ambulances and hindering medical teams. - Ambulances were denied entry to the camp, and paramedics were shot at, preventing the retrieval of bodies.PRCS has expressed deep concern over the shrinking humanitarian space, particularly in Jenin and Jenin refugee camp. According to PRCS, Israeli forces have directly targeted their ambulances, injuring two Emergency Medical Team (EMT) members and a volunteer doctor. These obstructions have hindered the delivery of essential supplies and medical services, worsening conditions for civilians. - The main hospital in Jenin was put under lockdown by Israeli Border Police, turning the surrounding area into a "closed military zone." - Even when ambulances were allowed through, they were stopped, and patients were forced to show ID before being admitted. ## Deaths and Casualties: - An 83-year-old man, Tawfiq Qandeel, was shot by Israeli forces and left to die without medical help. His body was later run over by military vehicles. - Three Palestinian children were killed when their vespa was bombed while delivering bread to the residents of Jenin. -In Kafr Dan, Jenin refugee camp, and on the eastern side of Jenin, the operation resulted in 19 Palestinian fatalities, 58 injuries, and at least 44 Palestinians arrested, along with significant damage to civilian infrastructure, residential, and livelihood shelters. ## Brutality of Military Tactics: - The operation in Jenin involved anti-tank rifle grenades destroying civilian infrastructure, sporadic gunfire, and drones flying overhead (likely for surveillance or attacks). - Civilians described widespread fear and destruction, with Israeli soldiers using homes as military outposts and placing snipers on rooftops. ## Worsening Humanitarian Crisis: - The Israeli military siege left Jenin and nearby cities under curfew, with road closures and checkpoints stifling movement for both residents and journalists. - Palestinians were unable to access basic necessities like flour and baby food due to the complete lockdown of the city. - Medical staff, such as nurses, reported being unable to go home for days due to the danger posed by the military operation. ## Israeli Justification: Israeli military leadership stated their intention to target Palestinian armed resistance, stating they would move "from city to city, refugee camp to refugee camp." But despite their claims of targeting militants, the majority of the casualties were civilians, deepening resentment among the Palestinian population and increasing support for resistance groups. ## Collective Punishment and Civilian Displacement: Civilians in Jenin reported feeling that the military operations were **designed to push them out of their homes**. Jenin’s residents are increasingly describing the siege as an **effort to depopulate the area**. Residents **drew comparisons between the treatment of Jenin and Gaza, seeing the same tactics of displacement and destruction** being used in both regions.

Tulkarm Raid & Siege Following "Operation Summer camp"

West Bank, Tulkarm 28 August, 2024
Tulkarm or Tulkarem (Arabic: طولكرم, Ṭūlkarm) is a Palestinian city in the West Bank, the capital of the Tulkarm Governorate of the State of Palestine - **1967**: Tulkarm came **under Israeli occupation** following the Six-Day War. - **1982**: **Israeli Civil Administration took control** of Tulkarm from the military government. - **1995**: After the Oslo Accords, **control of Tulkarm was transferred to the Palestinian National Authority** (PNA) on December 10, becoming the third city from which Israeli forces withdrew. **Early 2000s**: During the Second Intifada, **Israel temporarily reoccupied Tulkarm**. **2005**: Israeli military administration ended, and **control of Tulkarm was returned to the PNA**, which imposed new weapons restrictions on militants. **October 19, 2023**: The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) re-entered Tulkarm. Israel carries out very frequent raids there and the agricultural lands are subject to frequent attacks by settlers and soldiers. **Since August 28, 2024**, Israel has launched a large-scale offensive on various cities in the northern West Bank, called "Operation Summer Camp" ## What is Israel Doing to Palestinians in Tulkarm? **** ### Frequent Israeli Raids: Tulkarm, a city and refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, faces near-daily Israeli raids . Israel claims these operations target militants, particularly from Hamas’ military wing, the Qassam Brigades. However, these raids involve significant destruction of civilian infrastructure. ### Destruction of Homes and Infrastructure: During the raids, Israeli forces **deploy bulldozers to destroy large residential areas, schools, and hospitals**. Homes are set on fire, and Israeli troops reportedly **prevent local relief workers** from extinguishing these blazes. ### Collective Punishment Tactics: This destruction aims to collectively punish the population, according to experts, in response to pockets of armed resistance against the Israeli occupation. Following the **Activist Shadi Abdullah**, who documents Israeli abuses, Israeli forces used to - demolish homes - intentionally cut off basic necessities such as water and electricity. - Israeli soldiers cooperate with illegal settlers to attack civilians, adding to the fear and hardship faced by Palestinians in Tulkarm. ### Civilian Impact: Civilians in Tulkarm are constantly at risk from both Israeli forces and settlers, as the city lies between several Israeli settlements. The destruction of residential areas forces Palestinians into overcrowded, remaining safe zones, further increasing the already high population density due to previous displacements. ### Strategic Importance of Tulkarm: Tulkarm holds strategic value for its fertile agricultural land and access to natural water resources. However, the illegal Israeli settlements have appropriated much of this land, forcing Palestinian farmers to rely on expensive tanker water and rainwater collection systems. ### Role of Drones and Heavy Weaponry: - Drones play a key role in Israeli raids, providing air cover and targeting Palestinian fighters. Israel has used drones extensively in other West Bank cities like Jenin and Nur Shams, where they killed several Palestinians in July, Augustus and September, since the beginning of "Operation Summer Camp" - Israel’s use of drones, bulldozers, and heavy military equipment is part of a broader strategy to instill fear in younger generations and suppress armed resistance. However, this tactic has not succeeded in demoralizing the civilian population, who continue to support the resistance movement as part of the broader struggle against Israeli occupation.

"Operation summer camps" Day-1

Abu Hadrous family massacre

Gaza, Khan Younis, Hamad City 21 August, 2024
The 2-storey home of the Abu Hadrous family was struck by an Israeli airstrike on the night of August 21 in Khan Younis. The father, Tareq Abu Hadrous, recorded the aftermath from the debris of his destroyed home, where only he and his daughter survived, while **10 family members perished or remain buried under the rubble**. The father told the Gaza Civil Defense that out of his family of 16, 4 were not at home, whereas 10 were killed and/or under the rubble including his wife, daughter, sister and nieces. The Civil Defense and the father coordinated about a rescue. However, the target area was noted to be dangerous due to **IDF presence and rescue teams needed to coordinate** with the Red Crescent and getting clearance from the IDF, which didn't happen. The father and daughter found themselves with no alternative but to leave the site and their beloved ones behind, risking their safety. The martyrs were **recovered from the rubble 3days later**, on August 24, after the IDF's withdrawal from Hamad City: 1. Sundus Al-Saidi, 4 years old 2. Wasim Al-Saidi, 10 years old 3. Al-Tabi'in School / Dawn Prayer Massacre

Gaza, Gaza City, Al-Daraj, Al-Tabi'in School 10 August, 2024
At least 107 martyred
On August 10, 2024 at dawn, Israel bombed the Al-Tabi'in Sharia School for Boys, located in al-Daraj neighborhood of Gaza City, northern Gaza. The strike happened as people had **gathered to perform the dawn prayer** in the school's mosque and led to a large scale massacre where **over 100 people were murdered, gruesomely dismembered**. Many survivors and journalists described this as one of the [absolute worst massacres](https://aje.io/x9tkr3?update=3110589) since October 7, 2023. ### Context Al-Tabiin is a religious muslim [school](https://web.facebook.com/tabeenschool/?locale=ar_AR&_rdc=1&_rdr) for the study of Qur'an and Sharia. The school housed [2,400 displaced persons](https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/israeli-strikes-school-kills-least-100-displaced-palestinians). Israeli forces launched **three bombs** on the school's prayer hall **during Fajr (dawn) prayer**, between 5:15-5:30 am, right as the prayer started, as multiple witnesses testified the bombs struck with the Takbirat al-Ihram. Muslim prayers start between 10 to 15 minutes after the Adhan (call to prayer), to allow worshippers time perform their ablutions and head to the mosque for congregational prayer. The **timing** of the attack and the **use of multiple bombs** indicates that Israel **deliberately intended to inflict maximum harm** with full knowledge of the scale of civilian slaughter. The Israeli airstrikes targeted 2 floors of the school: the first bomb struck an area inhabited by displaced women. The second one hit the prayer hall at ground floor. In a report filmed the following day (August 11) journalist Islam Badr documented the impact and clearly noted how only [the mosque specifically](https://x.com/islambader1988/status/1822606542761312455) was bombed, and not other parts of the school. Journalist Ans Al-Sharid described the massacre as another indication of Israel's genocide being also a ["*war on Islam"](https://x.com/AnasAlSharif0/status/1822606574940041577). ### Casualties Over 100 people were confirmed killed as of August 10, 13:40 GMT, accounting for **at least 90% of all those who were present for prayer**. A couple of days later, Al-Ahli Arab (Baptist) hospital Senior Nurse Mohammad Saeed Al-Sheikh [stated](https://x.com/AlMoshtabik/status/1823277044077043972) that the death toll reached **over 107 people killed and more than 200 injuries**. Most of the footage from the scene was horrific and extremely graphic. Families, journalists and first responders alike were visibly extremely distraught by what they witnessed at the site of the massacre, decried as scenes from hell by some. Bodies were found **torn to shreds**, at least 15 of which were too [disfigured to identify](https://aje.io/x9tkr3?update=3110282), and/or [burned to death](https://x.com/islambader1988/status/1822104766475866415), whereas some victims were [flung far](https://x.com/islambader1988/status/1822238401334043125) by the violent explosions. **Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for Gaza Civil Defence** stated that the crews did [not find a single body without limbs severed](https://aje.io/x9tkr3?update=3110797). Confirmed reports indicate that some of those killed in the massacre were survivors of previous attacks in various evacuation centres over the last 10 days. They were left sheltering alone in the school after having lost family. The murder of these last survivors further led to Palestinian [families being wiped off the Civil Registry](https://aje.io/x9tkr3?update=3110428). Among the martyrs was the **90 year-old Mahmoud "Abu Nabil" Al-Jaabari**, a [Nakba survivor](https://x.com/AnasAlSharif0/status/1824170261819822102). He had lost his home, sons, and grandsons in the current genocide and succumbed to injuries on the morning on August 15. He left behind his widow who said a few days before that the couple have [nothing left in their life](https://x.com/Yusuf198989/status/1822642298204659911). ### Weapon: Explosive Ordnance expert Trevor Ball confirmed that US-made GBU-39 small diameter bomb was used in the Israeli strike on the school and mosque compound, based on [fragments found on the scene](https://x.com/goodwinallegra/status/1822248347761070223) (also confirmed by CNN's Allegra Goodwin). ### Israeli spin An IDF spokesperson described the death toll as "exaggerated". In an interview on Sky News on August 12, Israeli government spokesperson **David Mencer** outrageously claimed, when asked about the civilians killed that "there were **no civilians** killed". IDF claims about "terrorists" who were eliminated in the attack were promptly debunked twice by researchers in contact with their families in Gaza: - [First time](https://x.com/RamAbdu/status/1822621920442912770) - [Amended list](https://x.com/RamAbdu/status/1822995321888088234)

Home and land theft of Kisiya family in Bethlehem

West Bank, Bethlehem, Al-Makhrour, Beit Jala 09 August, 2024
The Christian Qaisiya (Kisiya) family owned land in al-Makhrour valley, near Beit Jala, in the occupied West Bank. She had a successful restaurant on their five dunams (5,000 square meters) of land, which was established in 2005. They later built a nearby house for residential purposes in 2010. Alice Qaisiya, the daughter of this family became a symbolic figure of the Palestinian resistance against the land theft and the settlement. ### Historical and Legal Context: The restaurant was built partially within an old mudbrick structure predating 1967, which the family argued did not require permits. The Israeli authorities, through the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), maintained that permits were necessary. The property faced legal challenges from Haminuta, a subsidiary of the Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael-Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF), which claimed ownership of the land based on a supposed purchase dating back to 1969. However, this claim was contentious due to incomplete land registration in the area, raising concerns of possible mistakes or forgery. The al-Makhrour hill is strategically valuable for connecting Israeli settlements, such as Gush Etzion and Har Gilo, to Jerusalem. Activists argue that this plan is part of the broader 'Greater Jerusalem'project, aimed at consolidating Israeli control and isolating Palestinian villages from Bethlehem. Activists like Hagit Ofran from the Peace Now group emphasized the demolition's significance in disconnecting Palestinian territories and preventing the establishment of a cohesive Palestinian state. Palestinian activist Hasan Breijeh highlighted that the demolitions aim to pressure families into abandoning their land, aligning with a broader strategy of territorial consolidation for Israeli settlements. The community's efforts to resist these measures include public advocacy, legal battles, and a strong presence on contested land. Home demolitions in the occupied territories violate international law, specifically the fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits altering the conditions on the ground in occupied areas. ### Demolition by Israeli Forces: **The restaurant was previously dismantled in 2012 and 2013**, with the family rebuilding each time. **On a Monday morning in August 2019**, the Israeli military demolished the family’s restaurant and home. The stated reason was the lack of a proper construction permit, which is a frequent justification used by Israeli authorities for demolitions in the West Bank. The demolition took place despite a notice from the Israeli High Court calling for a delay, which was ignored by the military commander on site. **On Augustus 9, 2024** Israeli settlers invaded the Qaisiya properties supported by Israeli soldiers. **on Augustus 26, 2024** Pastor Munther Isaac @MuntherIsaac "Today I visited the Qaisiya family. There were forcebly expelled from their land by the Israeli military, and now they are staying in a tent outside of their land. They were attacked by settlers, and Alice the daughter was arrested, (she was released for now today). In the tent I also met Israeli activists for peace who are in solidarity with the family from Combatants For Peace, and young men from Masafir Yatta who are facing similar challenges and came as well to show solidarity. It was powerful to see Jews and Muslims in solidarity with this Christian family from Bethlehem. Please pray and advocate for this family. I took a picture of the official document that prove their ownership of the land. What the Qaisiya family is facing is what we as Palestinians have been enduring for 76 years, namely: Ethnic cleansing. This is what the settler activity is all about." **On November 3, 2024** Alice Qaisiya was arrested, for the second time this year, by the Israeli security forces, according to savealmakhrour "Fresh out of hospital for knee surgery, still on crutches, she was attacked by armed settlers and then taken into custody by the IOF (*video of her arrest is in our most recent Reel). We ask our global community and friends to raise your voices of concern, call representatives, notify embassies, notify organisations and organising groups ... and pray. Pray for her safety and quick release ... and continue to pray for justice to come to Al-Makhrour and all of Palestine." **On november 29, 2024** The Israeli army arrested Palestinian Christian Alice QaIsiyia and her mother for visiting their own land, which was stolen by Israeli settler. ![New arrest](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GdkqbrsXgAAjpo5?format=jpg&name=large) ![Ownership document](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GV6F1-dWsAEHa3d?format=jpg&name=large) Source : [1](https://x.com/MuntherIsaac/status/1828046094963470423) [2](https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/restaurant-and-home-demolished-al-makhrour-aided-jewish-national-fund) ### Impact on the Family and Community: Despite the repeated setbacks, the Qaisyehs, led by Ramzi and supported by his daughter Alice, remained resilient. Alice expressed the emotional toll but asserted that they were "not defeated." The family, supported by the local community, set up tents on the land and vowed to rebuild. "In this Palestinian valley west of Bethlehem, which in 2014 became a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its its olive groves and vineyards, the Qaisiya family's restaurant is nothing more than a pile of ruins topped by fences. It was a restaurant appreciated for its cuisine and friendliness in the Palestinian Christian town of Beit Jala. "The place is beautiful, the food succulent and the owners are adorable [...]. If you're passing through Beit Jala, a stop at Al Makhrour is a must," a comment from 2015 reads on its Facebook page. Ramzi Qaisiya who had inherited the land opened a restaurant in 2001 there with his wife and their four children. For years, hundreds of tourists passing through Bethlehem stopped there for a salad before continuing their hike in the green valleys. For a long time, the Makhrour valley was untouched by uncontrolled Israeli settlements, but the trouble began in 2012 when an Israeli outpost - a settlement not authorised by the government - was built there. The settlers demolished the restaurant, claiming it belonged to the JNF. The Qaisiya family, who insist otherwise, rebuilt their restaurant before it was demolished again in 2013 and then again in 2015. In 2019 the family decided to take the case to court to have their rights heard. But in 2023, a civil court in Jerusalem validated the expropriation. In a bid to prevent the family's restaurant from being rebuilt again, the Israeli army declared the site to be a "closed military zone", which prevented anyone from entering it until this past summer, when Israeli settlers backed by soldiers destroyed it once again. Israeli settlers backed by the army seized the 5,000 square- metre plot on July 31 and evicted the French-Palestinian family. "We are being targeted because we reject the government's Zionist policy," said Michelle Qaisiya. Expulsions of Palestinians from their land in West Bank have increased, particularly since Israel's far-right government came to power in 2022. The situation has sharply deteriorated since Israel's invasion of Gaza last year." from hiddenpalestine To go further : [1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P38BFlJPufo&ab_channel=FreiheitsliebeTV) On July 2025:

Assassination of journalists Ismail Al-Ghoul and Rami Al-Rifi

Gaza, Gaza City, Al-Shati 31 July, 2024
At least 3 martyred
An afternoon Israeli drone strike targeted the car of Al-Jazeera correspondent in Gaza City Ismail Al-Ghoul after the drone chased him. The airstrike murdered Ismail along with his colleague cameraman Rami Al-Rifi, where both were gruesomely beheaded. In addition, child Khaled Al-Shawwa who was riding his bicycle taking food to his relatives was also killed. Veteran Palestinian Journalist Islam Badr who works for Al Araby TV recounted how the assassination unfolded: a group of journalists were reporting on the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh on the same day in front of the latter's residence, conducting interviews. The area was situated a considerable distance from active combat zones. Drones were flying overhead and initiated a first airstrike around the reporting coverage area. The journalists then evacuated using two vehicles, one belonging to Ismail and another from a national press organization. The vehicles proceeded in opposite directions due to the hazardous situation. Moment later a second strike directly hit Ismail's vehicle. Islam Badr asserted that this was unequivocally intentional. The next day the IDF officially boasted about the assassination, falsely labeling Ismail as a Nukhba operative in Hamas who "*instructed other operatives on how to record operations and was actively involved in recording and publicizing attacks against IDF troops.*" Ismail was instrumental in documenting and uncovering some of the major Israeli massacres including the murder of Hind Rajab, her family and paramedics, the Flour massacre, and the Al-Shifa hospital siege and total destruction, during which he was detained and abused by the IDF before being released on March 18th.

Pro-rape rioters at Sde Teiman following allegations of sexual torture

Sde Teiman, Israel 29 July, 2024
**On July 29, 2024**, the Israeli Military Police initiated an investigation at the Sde Teiman detention facility near Beersheba into allegations of serious abuse—including sexual assault—against a Palestinian detainee arrested during the Gaza ground operation. Israel’s army radio said military police arrived at Sde Teiman as part of their investigation of 10 reserve IDF soldiers who were suspected of abusing the prisoner (as a footage attested), so-called *"a member of the Nukhba forces who has been classed as an illegal combatant”*. A man stands blindfolded with his hands on his head near wire fencing, with other men seated behind him. The sexual gang- abuse took place three weeks ago, on July 7, 2024. The detainee was found “in a very serious condition”, requiring his evacuation to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery. Nine soldiers were detained, accused of “serious abuse of a detainee”, according to Israel’s army radio, while the 10th was expected to be arrested later as he was not at the base when the police arrived. But the operation triggered an angry confrontation between the military police and IDF soldiers at Sde Teiman, captured on video by a reporter from Israel’s public broadcaster Kann News. In response, dozens of right-wing civilian protesters, including Knesset members and far-right politicians, stormed through the base’s gates, chanting in support of the soldiers and condemning the investigation. Hours later, many moved on to Beit Lid, a nearby IDF base housing a military court and detainees. Protesters again forced their way in, clashing with security forces before being pushed back. ## **Allegations & Background:** The investigation centered on nine reserve soldiers accused of torture and sexual assault, including rectal injuries, of a Palestinian Prisonner— reportedly resulting in serious physical harm. The detainee was hospitalized with severe injuries—broken ribs, intestinal damage, and anal trauma. Sde Teiman detention camp, sometimes dubbed "Guantánamo-like," has faced long-standing accusations of systemic torture, sexual violence, and neglect against Palestinian detainees. ## **Official Reactions:** IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi denounced the break-ins as “unlawful behaviors bordering on anarchy” and warned they undermined military order and national security. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called for calm and condemned the storming of the bases. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stressed that even during wartime, the law still applies and unauthorized entry into military installations is unacceptable. ## **Political support to impunity:** Far-right ministers and MKs like Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, Amichay Eliyahu, Zvi Sukkot, and others condemned the arrests and supported the protesters, calling the soldiers “heroes” In contrast, police and military leadership criticized the lack of enforcement and delays in responding to the breaches — notably at Beit Lid — citing a breakdown in security protocols ## **Perpetrators:** The names of the specific soldiers involved have not been made public. Military authorities have referred to them generically—as reserve soldiers, including some ranking as officers—but all official documents and media reports continue to withhold their identities. Nine reserve soldiers were held and appeared before a military court; names were not released. And five soldiers—members of “Force 100”—were formally charged in February 2025. Their identities remain redacted in the indictment, and no names have been disclosed by military officials. Meir Ben Shitrit is publicly confirmed as the main suspect in the Sde Teiman sexual torture case. He made multiple on-air appearances acknowledging his name and role. He claims the military interrogation included praise. His media presence has been covered widely, and he’s been applauded and supported on Channel 14. **On November 3, 2025**, some of the IDF rapists organize a press conference, broadcasted on Channel 14, to defend their right to rape Palestinian hostages, demanding "justice". This came just days after Major-General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, the former Military Advocate General, admitted to leaking footage showing the rape and torture of Palestinian hostages at the Sde Teiman torture camp. ## **Victim** Primary Victim in Legal Proceedings was identified only by the pseudonym “S.A.”. It referres to as a senior Palestinian detainee, reportedly a police officer from Gaza, transferred from Ofer Prison to Sde Teiman in July 2024. According to the Channel 12 investigation that published the video of Israeli soldiers raping the Palestinian, the victim was -not involved in the October 7 attack -not a Nukhba fighter -a Hamas policeman involved in fighting against drug trafficking S.A. was severely injured: beaten, tasered, stabbed in the anus with a sharp object puncturing his rectum, sustaining seven broken ribs and a punctured lung. He underwent surgery and required a colostomy bag. On November 3, 2025, Muhammad Shehada @muhammadshehad2 posts on X that "the victim of Israel's gang rape on camera has been identified (I'll withhold his name until he speaks on the record).IDF soldiers raped him so violently until they exploded his intestines & raptured his rectum. He underwent 20 surgical operations, inc. colostomy & urostomy, & is still suffering medical complications until now.Israel released him 3 weeks ago without him ever being charged or tried. They likely released him so he wouldn't be able to testify at court against his rapists who are still at large. The victim is now fearful for his life; he could be killed in any Israeli strike to cover up this atrocity." ## **Other testimonies:** Ibrahim Salem: his image (blindfolded at Sde Teiman) went viral. He reported systematic rape, electrocution, beatings, rectal injuries, and gang-rape by both male and female soldiers Islam al‑Sarsawi (42) and Omar Junaid: reportedly tortured to death at Sde Teiman; their deaths were confirmed by Palestinian rights groups in early August 2024. ## **On July 7, 2025 : Mediation Proposed for Soldiers Accused of Abusing Gazan Detainee at Sde Teiman** Over a year after their arrest, five Israeli reservist soldiers accused of beating and sexually abusing a Gazan detainee at the Sde Teiman detention facility still haven't faced trial. The military court president, Col. Meir Wegiser, proposed mediation instead of trial, citing prolonged delays and challenges for the defendants. The charges are "aggravated abuse and severe bodily harm". Defense claims missing investigative material; also stalled by an ongoing video leak investigation. Identities of the accused remain undisclosed. The proposal for mediation was conditionally accepted by the prosecution. The defense is waiting on full case files. ## **MAG disgraced and detained for leaking the video** **On November 2, 2025, IDF’s top lawyer, Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi—Israel’s Military Advocate General (MAG)** who had opened what critics called "a sham investigation" into the Sde Teiman torture and rape case a year earlier—was fired, disgraced, and detained. She is under investigation herself after admitting, on October 31, to leaking footage showing Israeli soldiers assaulting a Palestinian detainee at the Sde Teiman detention center, and to misleading Israel’s High Court about it. Tomer-Yerushalmi reportedly launched the probe into this rape case—*one of hundreds that are never investigated*—only because the incident was caught on camera and the victim was hospitalized with detailed medical documentation. The inquiry, critics say, was meant to preempt ICC involvement, rather than ensure justice. She claimed she released the video in 2024 to defend military investigators who were being attacked by right-wing politicians and commentators for pursuing charges against soldiers accused of torturing and sexually assaulting a Palestinian prisoner. Tomer-Yerushalmi faces charges including fraud, abuse of office, obstruction of justice, and unauthorized disclosure of official information. Her arrest, observers note, exposes how the rule of law in Israel often serves to protect army impunity, amid a climate where far-right leaders and media figures have hailed the accused soldiers as “heroes” and branded prosecutors “traitors.” In a Press conference, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed the Sde Teiman case as “perhaps the most severe public relations attack Israel has ever faced.”. **Time line of this case inside the case:** On October 31, 2025: Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, the IDF’s Military Advocate General, resigns from her post. On November 2, 2025: Tomer-Yerushalmi disappears for several hours on a Tel Aviv beach; her car and a cryptic note saying “Don’t look back” are found, prompting fears of suicide. Police locate her later that day; her phone is missing (later found by a swimmer). She is arrested that evening on suspicion of fraud, breach of trust, abuse of office, obstruction of justice, and leaking classified information. Following her resignation and brief disappearance, far-right mobs gathered outside her home, while some online figures called for her to be “lynched.” On November 3–8, 2025: Tomer-Yerushalmi spends five days in detention. On November 8, she is released to ten days of house arrest. 0n November 9, 2025: Defense Minister Israel Katz appoints attorney Itai Ofir (52) as the next Military Advocate General, effective November 24. On November 10, 2025: Early Sunday, Tomer-Yerushalmi attempts suicide at home by swallowing roughly 20 sleeping pills. Found unconscious, she is hospitalized at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, conscious but under supervision. Police request to tighten her house-arrest restrictions, impose continuous monitoring, and ban her from leaving the country. ## **An affair about Impunity:** 1. Underscores the erosion of judicial independence and accountability for abuses against Palestinians, weakening Israel’s claim that it can handle such cases domestically and increasing exposure to ICC scrutiny. 2. Reflects how the Israeli right is undermining legal oversight and international law obligations, leaving virtually no accountability for widespread killings and torture in Gaza since 2023. 3. This case is the visible part of a pattern of systematic sexuual torture in the detention and concentration camp in Israel. On November 11, 2025, the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) has released a report documenting testimonies from recently freed Palestinian detainees from Gaza, describing systematic sexual torture and abuse by Israeli forces in prisons and detention camps. The accounts include rape, forced nudity, sexual assaults using objects and animals, and severe psychological humiliation aimed at destroying victims’ dignity and identity. PCHR asserts these are not isolated incidents but part of a widespread policy linked to Israel’s ongoing actions in Gaza.
