Abduction of US-Palestinian Mohammad Zaher Ibrahim 15 y/o

Ofer prison, Megiddo prison 15 Feb, 2025 - 27 Nov, 2025
Mohammad Zaher Taysir Ibrahim, a 15-year-old Palestinian-American boy from Florida, has been illegally imprisoned by the Israeli occupation after being abducted at his family home in Al‑Mazra’a ash‑Sharqiya, near Ramallah, near Silwad on February 15, 2025. He is detained in Israel's Megiddo prison since February, accused without evidence of throwing a rock on an empty street, a charge routinely used to criminalize Palestinian youth. He’s endured inhumane conditions, lost over 25 pounds, and contracted scabies. His health has severely decline and his family fears for his life, as other prisoners have died from torture, disease, and starvation. Despite their pleas, major U.S. media outlets have ignored the case. Mohammed Zaher Ibrahim was arrested on February 15, 2025, during a predawn raid on his family home in al‑Mazra’a ash‑Sharqiya (also referred to as Silwad) in the occupied West Bank. He was just 15 years old at the time. According to his family, masked Israeli soldiers broke down the door, blindfolded and handcuffed him, and then transported him to Megiddo Prison in Israel, where he remains in pre‑trial detention on rock‑throwing charges—accusations his family strongly denies Denied regular family contact and facing a broken military court system designed to silence Palestinians, Mohammad’s case reflects the brutal reality countless Palestinian children endure under the occupation’s apartheid. Tragically, Mohammed’s cousin, 20-year-old Sayfollah “Saif” Musallet, was killed in a violent settler attack on July 11 in the West Bank. He and others were hunted by a large group of armed Israeli settlers who beat and tortured young Palestinians. Saif was struck, beaten, and left to die, while Israeli forces blocked medical aid. Another victim, Muhammad “Rizik” al-Shalabi, was also killed after being shot and beaten. **According to Defence For Children-Palestine on Oct 21, 2025** He was initially held in Megiddo Prison (in northern Israel) for several months, then transferred to Ofer Prison (in the occupied West Bank). His detention is tied to a charge of throwing stones — a charge he denies. He reports extremely poor conditions in detention: overcrowded rooms with light mattresses and inadequate bedding, no heating or cooling, very meagre meals (e.g., three small pieces of bread and spoonfuls of labneh for breakfast, tiny portions for lunch, often no dinner or fruit) and limited hygiene access. He has reportedly lost a significant amount of weight during his detention and suffered from a scabies infestation, attributed to overcrowding, lack of hygiene, and medical neglect. The case has drawn diplomatic and human rights attention: He is the only U.S. citizen among the hundreds of Palestinian children held in Israeli military detention, and his family is pressing the U.S. government for intervention.Human rights organizations cite his case as illustrative of broader concerns: the prosecution of Palestinian children in military courts, detention without adequate legal representation, and deteriorating prison conditions since the escalation of conflict in October 2023. **Pressure and campaign to his release:** U.S. State Department appoints official (Guardian – 27 Sept 2025): The U.S. State Department appointed a dedicated official to oversee Mohammed’s case, marking an escalation in U.S. diplomatic involvement. More than 100 civil-rights, faith-based and advocacy groups in the U.S. have urged his release, citing his deteriorating health and lack of legal representation. Pressure mounts for U.S. government to act (The Washington Post – 23 Oct 2025): After eight months in detention without trial, Mohammed remains incarcerated despite a large prisoner exchange following a cease-fire. Twenty-seven U.S. lawmakers wrote to Secretary of State Marco Rubio and U.S. Ambassador to Israel to demand his release and note his mounting health issues. The Israeli military charges him with rock-throwing, which could carry a sentence of up to 20 years, even though evidence has not been publicly presented. His family says his condition has worsened (significant weight loss, limited contact), they fear for his life, and they no longer feel safe where they are living **Liberation:** Mohammed was eventually released on Novemebr 27, 2025 thanks to the pressure of some US political figure, as Senator Van Hollen. **Campaign by Jasper Nathaniel:** Israel’s two big moves to double down on keeping Mohammed earlier this month — the embassy letter packed with disinformation and Netanyahu’s statement accusing him of a “potentially deadly crime” — completely backfired. They pissed people off, triggered a wave of calls to lawmakers, pushed more media coverage, and led outlets and officials to fact-check those spurious claims with Israeli authorities, ultimately creating the pressure that tipped the scales. In other words: holding Israel to account for its lies can pay off.

Bloody raid on Sa’ir (Hebron/ Al-Khalil)

West Bank, Al-Khalil/Hebron, Sa'ir 11 February, 2025
At least 1 martyred
**On February 11**, Isreali forces raided Sa’ir near al-Khalil in the southern West Bank. They fired several young people, killing one and injured 3. ## A filmed summary execution - A Palestinian young man, 19-year-old Abdullah Murad Hussein Al-Faroukh, was killed when walking in the street. The moment of his summary execution was filmed. ### 3 others were injured by Israeli gunfire : - Earlier, the Palestinian Red Crescent reported that a young man was seriously injured by live bullets in the chest. - The Red Crescent also said that another young man was shot and injured in the abdomen and limbs - Another young man was shot in the abdomen and was transferred to the hospital for treatment, the source added. ### Targeting and injuring children in their home -**Jannat Faisal Sabri Mutawar**, a 8-year-old Palestinian girl, was seriously injured in the eyes and face after Israeli occupation forces opened fire on her house in Sa'ir around 5 p.m. According to Wafa, she was injured by bullet shrapnel in her eyes and face while she was hugging her little brother Muhammad (3 years old) in order to protect him, while Israeli soldiers were tagerting them through the windows of their home. According to her father, Faisal Al-Mutwar : *“Jannat is my eldest child and has two siblings. They were all inside the house when the tragedy began. Her younger brother, Mohammed, was standing on the bed in the bedroom, facing a window overlooking the courtyard of the house, as the occupation forces stormed the area. **Jannat rushed to her brother to protect him and move him away from the window after she saw one of the occupation soldiers pointing his rifle at him.** She was able to get him down, and as soon as she completed the mission and raised her head, a bullet fired by that soldier penetrated the window glass into the bedroom, hitting her scalp. The bullet exploded, and its fragments mixed with the shattered glass from the window, a large portion of which landed in the girl's eyes and face. At the sound of gunfire and screaming, Jannat’s mother rushed to the room. Jannat had closed her eyes, her face covered in blood, screaming and shouting. So I quickly carried her outside, **but the occupation soldiers deployed around the house and firing bullets at the citizens prevented her from leaving in search of help**. **Jannat remained bleeding until one of her uncles was able to reach her and transport her to Al-Mezan Hospital, after having traveled a long distance and taken alternative routes due to an occupation forces checkpoint that completely closed the entrance to the town, preventing citizens from moving**.”* Her family rushed her to Alia Governmental Hospital before she was transferred with severe eye injuries caused by bullet and glass fragments to Al-Mizan Specialized Hospital in Hebron for emergency treatment. Her vision is nearly lost, requiring multiple surgeries. Doctors removed shrapnel from her right eye, slightly improving her vision, but significant damage remains. Her left eye has little to no chance of recovery. Psychologically, Janat is deeply traumatized, suffering from severe shock, panic attacks, and nightmares where she envisions being hunted by monsters—symbols of the soldiers who harmed her. Her case reflects the ongoing suffering of Palestinians amid the aggression in Gaza. ![](https://media.alalam.ir/uploads/855x495/2025/02/16/173970952184137900.jpg) *Jannat Faisal Sabri Mutawar* Similar attacks were also reported in the Al-Shuyukh town, adjacent to Sa’ir, after being stormed by the IDF troops. A bulldozer and a sawmill were also confiscated during the raid.

Demolition and eviction in Deir Ibzi

West Bank, Ramallah, Deir Ibzi 11 February, 2025
**On February 11, 2025,** 10 Israeli military vehicles, accompanied by two bulldozers, stormed the village of Deir Ibzi', west of Ramallah, on the morning, and demolished a two-story house under the pretext that it was built without a permit. - The targeted house is owned by local resident Ihab Al-Sa'afin, and that 16 people live in it. - Its area is 200 square meters. **Context :** Since the Six-Day War in 1967, Deir Ibzi has been under Israeli occupation. The population in the 1967 census conducted by the Israeli authorities was 536, 34 of whom originated from the Israeli territory. After the 1995 accords, 27% of village land was classified as Area B, the remaining 73% as Area C. Israel has confiscated land from Deir Ibzi for bypass roads, in addition to 22 dunams taken for the Israeli settlement of Dolev. This included spring Ein Bubin, now used by the Israeli settlers in Dolev for their own irrigation projects. The report of the *'Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission'* stated that the occupation authorities carried out 76 demolition operations last January, affecting 126 facilities, including 74 inhabited homes, 4 uninhabited ones, and 29 agricultural and other facilities. They were concentrated in the Jenin governorates, with the demolition of 47 facilities, then the Jerusalem governorate with 14 facilities, Qalqilya with 11, and Bethlehem and Nablus with 10 facilities each.

Demolition and eviction in Khirbet al-Daba (Masafer Yatta)

West Bank, Masafer Yatta, Khirbet al-Daba 10 February, 2025
**On Monday February 10**, Israeli authorities demolished 11 buildings in the Masafer Yatta region, in the southern Hebron Hills, in occupied West Bank, particularly in the village of Khalet al-Daba, with additional demolitions in Maghayir al-Abeed and Jinaba. According to Palestinian and Israeli activits (Breaking the Silence, resident and film director Basel Adra, Peace Now, Masafering), **the forcible transfer of Palestinians out of Area C continues.** - It's an extensive and unprecedented demolitions covering three villages in Masafer Yatta as described by regional council leader Nidal Younis. - The demolished structures included houses, caves, a tent, and infrastructure (including water and electricity systems), some of which were funded by foreign countries. **Testimony of Basel Adra** @basel_adra (Co-Author of "No Other Land" awarded documentary) *"I am surrounded by many armed soldiers and three large bulldozers. They have invaded the village of Khirbet al-Daba in Masafer Yatta, forcibly evicting families from their homes in this freezing cold. So far, three homes have been demolished, and the destruction is still ongoing." ![](https://peacenow.org.il/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Map-of-outposts-in-918-ENG-1536x1086.jpeg) **Legal and Political Context:** The demolitions come after a decades-long legal battle, which ended in May 2022 with the High Court of Justice authorizing the state to demolish all the villages in Firing Zone 918 in the Yatta area and expel their residents. While Palestinians are having their homes demolished in the Firing Zone, settlers are building more and more outposts (with direct and indirect assistance from the state). - The demolitions follow a ruling from Israel's High Court of Justice in 2022 that allowed the destruction of villages in the South Hebron Hills to create a military firing zone. - The ruling was in response to a petition from residents of eight villages located in the designated firing zone, which was established in 1981. - Since the court ruling, the residents' lawyers have filed several requests to exempt certain buildings, but those requests have been rejected faster in recent months, raising fears of imminent expulsion. - In December 2024, a request to exempt a school and clinic in the village of Khirbet al-Fakheit from demolition was rejected. The state has committed to giving advance notice of demolitions, but this commitment is now being questioned in light of ongoing demolitions. **Statements from Legal and Political Figures:** - Attorney Michael Sfard filed a petition to prevent the demolition of an electrical grid in the area. - Regavim, a far-right group, supported the demolitions, calling them a step toward restoring governance. - Military Justification: The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories stated the demolitions were carried out in accordance with the law, as the structures were built without necessary permits in a military firing zone. - Peace Now: *The demolitions in Masafer Yatta are part of a governmental plan to forcefully deport the Palestinians from their homes and lands and to settle it with Israelis. For years the State claimed in court that the demolitions are necessary because in a firing zone no civilian presence is allowed. Now it is becoming clear that the State has no problem with civilian presence, as long as it is of Israeli-settlers and not of Palestinians.*

Raids of renowned bookstores

West Bank, East Jerusalem 09 February, 2025
Israeli police raided two [Educational Bookshop](https://educationalbookshop.com/) stores in east Jerusalem, ransacked them, confiscated books, and detained the owners, brothers Mahmoud and Ahmad Muna The brother of the owners told Haaretz that police "went through the books with Google Translate and took away anything they didn't like. They even came across the Haaretz newspaper with the picture of the kidnapped people, asked what it was, and said it was incitement. They took every book with the Palestinian flag on it." On February 10, the police requested an extension of their detention to 8 days at a court hearing. Their detention was extended by one day only. Several diplomats and journalists attended the hearing, due to their acquaintance with the store and its owners, renowned for being a rich source for the study of the Palestinian culture and the history of the Palestinian struggle. Officers allegedly targeted books with Palestinian flags or titles mentioning Palestine, using Google Translate to examine them. Among the seized books were works by Banksy, Ilan Pappé, and Noam Chomsky. Muna was later released without charge, and most books were returned. Rights groups and intellectuals condemned the raids, calling them an attempt to suppress Palestinian culture. Authorities claim the latest raid followed a complaint about “inciting content” in some books.

Nur Shams eviction and demolition (Iron Wall)

West Bank, Tulkarm, Nur Shams 09 February, 2025
At least 3 martyred
In the context of the large-scale campaign throughout the occupied West Bank following the January 19 ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ('Iron Wall' in Jenin and Tulkarm), the Israeli army has increased its violence and repression against Palestinians camps. Operation Iron Wall is described by international human-rights groups as the largest forced displacement in the West Bank since 1967, with Nur Shams being one of the primary camps emptied of its population. Humanitarian access has been severely restricted, and basic services like schools and health centers have been disrupted or suspended. ### **Timeline of the events** **On February 9**, the Israeli army has been besieging and attacking the Nur Shams Refugee Camp in the city of Tulkarm. - The Israeli bulldozers destroyed much of the camp’s infrastructure, cutting off electricity, water and internet services. Homes, businesses and vehicles were also damaged, particularly in Al-Manshiya and Jabal Al-Salihin, then they extend the destruction to the camp’s inner streets. - Three people, including an 8-month pregnant woman, lost their lives when Israeli soldiers opened fire directly on thier vehicle or bombed their house on the camp. - A civilian, Rahaf al-Ashqar (21), is killed when an explosive device is detonated at a home entrance during the raid. - Israeli soldiers raided homes in the camp and forcibly removed civilians from their homes : hundreds of Palestinian women, children and elderly civilians were forced to migrate along muddy roads dug by the Israeli army, carrying with them the few belongings they could take. - During their forced displacement, many residents described the harrowing ordeal of being held in rain and mud for hours. Young men and adults, in particular, were subjected to physical searches, ill-treatment and prolonged detention before being allowed to leave - Vehicles cannot move along some streets because the Israeli army's is digging up the roads. - Israeli soldiers turned back a group of Palestinian civilians who left the camp and proceeded to where their relatives would pick them up in vehicles. - Gunfire and explosions can be heard from the camp due to clashes between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian armed resistance groups. - The Israeli army raided Palestinian houses, then moved their resident to another house. They detained some people and forced residents to leave the camp. - Israeli army declared a curfew in the camp - Displacement has been particularly severe in neighborhoods such as Al-Maslakh, Al-Manshiya, Jabal Al-Salihin and Jabal Al-Nasr, which are now almost deserted. - Families have been directed to various locations, including the city of Tulkarem, the suburb of Dhanaba and the city of Anabta. - The Palestine Red Crescent Society is assisting elderly residents and those in need of medical care by relocating them to safer areas. - The Emergency Committee of Nour Shams refugee camp announced on February 10 that half of the camp's residents had fled, while 200 homes had been completely destroyed and 120 others partially damaged. ![](https://aslindacom.teimg.com/crop/1280x720/aslinda-com/uploads/2025/02/westbank-aa-2330852-1.jpg) *People were then forced to leave under threat.* ![](https://french.wafa.ps/image/NewsThumbImg/Default/a3bac1bd-c709-4c53-813d-60ebdc143487.jpeg) **Mid-February 2025** Local reports say over 90 % of Nur Shams residents are displaced following sustained military pressure and siege conditions. **March 6, 2025** Israeli forces order demolition of 25 residential structures in Nur Shams and Tulkarm camps; residents are given short notice to collect belongings ahead of demolition activity. **April 9, 2025** After ~61 days of operations, Israeli forces continue their aggression into Nur Shams camp as part of the broader West Bank offensive, with raids and home demolitions continuing. **On April 12-13, 2025** ▪️ The assault on Nour Shams Camp has entered its 63rd day. ▪️ Heavy gunfire and explosions were reported as military reinforcements, including infantry and armored vehicles, entered the camp. ▪️ The camp remains besieged, with homes in Al-Mahjar neighborhood raided and young men detained for field interrogations. ▪️ Bulldozers destroyed roads and damaged gravesites near the cemetery bridge area. ▪️ In nearby Tulkarem Camp, soldiers were deployed in the Abu Al-Foul neighborhood, firing flares and conducting searches. Casualties and Displacement for Tulkarm and Nur Shams: ▪️ 13 Palestinians have been martyred, including a child and two women—one of them eight months pregnant. ▪️ Dozens have been injured or arrested since the start of the campaign. ▪️ Over 4,000 families from Tulkarm and Nour Shams Camps have been forcibly displaced, along with dozens more from the northern city neighborhoods. ▪️ 396 homes have been completely destroyed and 2,573 partially damaged in Tulkarem and Nour Shams. ▪️ Dirt barriers continue to seal off entrances and alleyways in both camps. **On April 23,** According to the Tulkarm Media Committee, Israeli occupation forces have completely destroyed 396 homes, partially damaged 2,573 others, and burned 300 shops in Tulkarm and the Nur Shams refugee camp in the occupied WestBank. **Early July 2025** Five months after Iron Wall began, humanitarian groups including MSF report that Nur Shams remains sealed off, largely emptied of residents, and subject to ongoing destruction with massive humanitarian needs. Tens of thousands from Nur Shams, Jenin, and Tulkarm remain displaced months later. Nearly half of the people have been forcibly displaced three or more times in four months, while nearly three out of four are unsure if they can stay where they currently are. Over a third report feeling unsafe where they currently reside. Mental health needs are also mounting, especially among women and children, as repeated displacement, uncertainty, and being violently displaced compound distress: “We live in a constant state of fear. Israeli forces frequently patrol the area near where I’m staying,” says a displaced woman from Nur Shams refugee camp. “My family and I keep our bags packed at all times, ready to flee if we’re displaced again.” **Late November 2025** UNRWA reports that roughly 32,000 Palestinians from Jenin, Tulkarem, and Nur Shams remain forcibly displaced ten months into the West Bank operation, with camps largely emptied and few residents returned home **December 14, 2025** Israeli occupation forces issue a new demolition order for 25 buildings inside the Nur Shams camp, which has already suffered extensive destruction leaving hundreds of homes damaged or destroyed, further complicating any return of displaced residents. ![](https://english.wafa.ps/image/NewsThumbImg/Default/5d73033d-d83f-4dc6-9a92-faa46a52ccf9.jpg) ## **Human Right Watch report:** "By expelling tens of thousands of Palestinians from refugee camps, dictating the manner of their displacement, and preventing their return for months after military operations ended, Israeli forces have carried out widespread, systematic, and intentional forced displacement that amounts to crimes against humanity. The actions by Israeli authorities to remove Palestinians from the refugee camps by violent means also amounts to “ethnic cleansing,” a non-legal term to describe the actions of one ethnic or religious group against another ethnic or religious group." ## **Perpetrators:** Human Rights Watch states that Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth, as head of the Israeli military’s Central Command overseeing operations in the West Bank, should be investigated for possible criminal responsibility—directly or through command responsibility—for the forcible expulsion of about 32,000 people from the refugee camps of Jenin, Tulkarem, and Nur Shams. It says that former and current chiefs of staff, Herzi Halevi and Eyal Zamir, should also face investigation on similar grounds. The organization argues that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Israel Katz, and Minister Bezalel Smotrich should likewise be investigated for potential criminal responsibility, including command responsibility, for war crimes and crimes against humanity. **On January 12, 2026:** The Israeli forces demanding residents of Jabal al-Nasr in Nur Shams refugee camp, east of Tulkarem, to evacuate their homes under the pretext of carrying out an explosion/detonation operation.
